Who's Behind It?
I am a mother to two beautiful children. Motherhood inspired me to start up Mums@Work back in 2010. Like many other professional mothers in Singapore, I couldn't find meaningful flexiwork jobs when my first child was born. Rather than giving up, I decided to set up a portal for other mums like me, listing genuine flexi-work, offering career fairs & workshops and creating a network of like-minded mothers.
I work odd hours throughout the day. As a typical Mumpreneur (read: on-duty 24/7), my work hours coincide with the time that I am not looking after my little ones. Running a business is a lot of work (Ask any mumpreneur, and they will tell you the same). Running a business with a home office is like trying to run a 10km marathon, holding on to a squirmy 3-year old toddler, with a 5-kg backpack and a little poodle on a leash. (in other words – challenging!) However, I am blessed to be doing what I love. The opportunity to meet fellow mumpreneurs via our networking events constantly empowers me to do even more.
I dream of more enlightened employers, supporting work-family balance. And therefore Mums@Work is now partnering more employers in the engagement of the new workforce.
I play hard and truly believe that all mothers should take short breaks (quality time for themselves) to get recharged and ready to take on the world again. Most importantly, meeting like-minded mums and constantly learning new skills empowers me.
